Petition Against Year-Round Hunting of Young Game in Czech Republic Gains Support

A petition opposing a decree that permits year-round hunting of cloven-hoofed game up to two years old, including pregnant roe deer and does, has garnered 5,000 signatures in the Czech Republic. While hunters and nature conservationists seek amendments, farmers and forest owners defend the new regulation.

Myslivci i ochránci přírody usilují o úpravu vyhlášky umožňující celoroční lov spárkaté zvěře do dvou let věku, tedy i březích srnek nebo laní. Petici za její zrušení podepsalo už pět tisíc lidí. Novelu naopak hájí zemědělci a vlastníci lesů. Podle nich pomáhá při regulaci přemnožené zvěře.
