Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan met with Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Prime Minister Ünal Üstel in Ankara on Friday to hold talks.

Turkish Cypriot leader Tufan Erhurman warned against people becoming "trapped by history" in response to statements made by President Nikos Christodoulides on the anniversary of the creation of EOKA. This follows Ünal Üstel, Prime Minister of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, condemning Greek Cypriot leader Nikos Christodoulides for statements praising the EOKA terrorist group.

Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Prime Minister Ünal Üstel stated that any lasting resolution to the decades-long Cyprus dispute must be based on the recognition of sovereign equality.
