The Christchurch City Council has been asked to explain a series of unconsented sewage discharges into Whakaraupō Lyttelton Harbour and Akaroa Harbour, prompting an investigation.

Canterbury Regional Council is yet to decide if there will be any penalties for the Navy after a ship spilled hundreds of litres of oil in Akaroa Harbour.
