South Western Railway has postponed promotion examinations in Karnataka due to protests over the lack of a Kannada language option, causing uncertainty among employees and highlighting ongoing language-related grievances.

Professor Maralusiddappa spoke at a Kannada University convocation, asserting that Kannada must receive the highest recognition in Karnataka and warning against promoting English as the primary medium of instruction.
