The Nigerian House of Representatives Ad-hoc Committee investigating the alleged unlawful establishment of the Presidential Economic Advisory Council (PEAC) has declared a purported DG appointment letter fake and uncovered alleged forged documents.

The Nigerian Presidency has denied the existence of a Presidential Economic Advisory Council and stated that an alleged Director-General's appointment letter for the council was forged. This comes as the Presidency defends the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume.

Adeyemi has stated he did not prepare the N1.3 billion budget allocated to the Presidential Economic Advisory Council (PEAC)/Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), an agency listed under the presidency in the 2026 Appropriation Act.

The Nigerian Presidency's handling of allegations concerning a 'ghost agency,' the Presidential Economic Advisory Council, and its self-styled Director-General, has drawn criticism regarding the credibility of institutions.
