Activity in Romanian courts and prosecutor's offices is partially suspended from June 2-5 as auxiliary and related personnel protest provisions of the new salary law, with a full four-hour blockage planned for Thursday.

Romanian courts of appeal, tribunals, and the Superior Council of Magistracy have strongly criticized the new salary law, stating it freezes judicial salaries and undermines the constitutional position of the judiciary. Political figures have also weighed in on potential prime minister scenarios.

The leadership of all Romanian Courts of Appeal has formally requested President Nicușor Dan to send back to Parliament for re-examination a law concerning special pensions for magistrates.
