The Gauhati High Court has issued notices to the Assam and Nagaland governments regarding a public interest litigation claiming that unregulated coal extraction and illegal mining significantly worsened recent flooding in Sivasagar district.

Residents of Delihi Gohain village in Assam's Sivasagar district continue to face challenges as roads remain submerged and boats are the only means of transport despite receding floodwaters.

Floodwaters continue to devastate Assam, with the death count rising to 88. Sivasagar district has been identified as the worst-affected area, accounting for over half of the state's flood-related fatalities.

The Adani Foundation has distributed relief kits to approximately 8,000 families in the Nazira Sub-Division of Sivasagar district and Silapathar in Dhemaji district, as part of its flood relief drive in Assam.
