A rescue team has resumed its trek on Spantik peak to recover the body of Pakistani mountaineer Dr. Asma Mushtaq, who died while descending the 7,027m peak.

Mountaineer Asma Mushtaq, 34, died after suffering a medical emergency while descending Spantik, a high-altitude peak in Pakistan's Karakoram range, shortly after successfully reaching the summit.

Four women mountaineers from Gilgit-Baltistan, joined by a Romanian climber and a male mountaineer from Punjab, successfully summited the 7,027-meter Spantik Peak without high-altitude porters.

Efforts to retrieve the body of Pakistani climber Dr. Asma Mushtaq, who died descending Spantik Peak, have been suspended due to heavy snowfall in Gilgit-Baltistan's Shigar district.
