Kashmiri leader Mohammad Yasin Malik, already imprisoned on terrorism charges, has now been implicated in the 36-year-old murder case of a nurse in Srinagar.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has informed the Delhi High Court that separatist leader Yasin Malik was in contact with top Pakistani leadership concerning Jammu and Kashmir.
The State Investigation Agency (SIA) has named Yasin Malik and four other JKLF operatives as masterminds in the 1990 rape and murder of Kashmiri Pandit nurse Sarla Bhat. The chargesheet, filed 36 years after the incident, alleges Bhat was killed to drive Kashmiri Pandits out of the Valley.

A court has rejected Yasin Malik's plea requesting prior intimation about witnesses, stating that the request is 'not free from risk'.
