Crete Sold to Venetians for 1,000 Silver Marks on August 12, 1204
On August 12, 1204, a few months after the First Fall of Constantinople to the Crusaders, Crete changed hands through an agreement that would determine its history for more than four centuries, as Boniface of Montferrat ceded it.
