BIRN Questions Blocked 'Canopy Case' in Belgrade Courts

BIRN has questioned why the 'canopy case' remains blocked in Belgrade, as pre-trial chambers of the High Court, composed of almost the same judges, have been unable for months to determine whether the High Public Prosecutor's Office or the Prosecutor's Office for Organized Crime has jurisdiction over two indictments.

Vanpretresna veća Višeg suda u Beogradu, sastavljena gotovo od istih sudija, mesecima ne mogu da utvrde da li su za ove dve optužnice nadležni Više javno tužilaštvo ili Tužilaštvo za organizovani kriminal. Apelacioni sud je u više navrata vraćao predmete na ponovno odlučivanje, dok pravnici ocenjuju da propusti ne deluju kao neznanje, već više kao moguća zloupotreba.
