Fukushima Daini Nuclear Plant Unit 1 Fuel Pool Cooling Halted Due to Pump Failure

Cooling of the spent nuclear fuel pool at Unit 1 of the Fukushima Daini Nuclear Power Plant was stopped due to a pump malfunction. TEPCO states there is an 8-day margin before the temperature limit is reached and is working to restore cooling.

東京電力は、廃炉作業中の福島第二原子力発電所の1号機で5日午後、ポンプが故障した影響で、使用済み核燃料を保管している燃料プールの冷却を停止したと発表しました。東京電力は、燃料プールの水温は低く、プールを管理する際の上限としている65度に達するまでは8日ほど余裕があるとしていて、冷却の再開に向け、ポンプの復旧作業を急ぐことにしています。
