Lebanon and Israel held a new round of direct talks, brokered by the United States, in Rome. It builds on earlier negotiations in Washington where both sides agreed to a framework deal that involves the disarmament of Hezbollah and a gradual withdrawal of Israeli forces from southern Lebanon.
