Zambia prepares for 8th general election since its return to a multi-party democracy

Zambians head to polls on Thursday for a general election where President Hakainde Hichilema is seeking a second term as leader of the southern African country that has some of the world’s richest copper reserves and is a critical mineral hub. The election will also choose lawmakers and local councilors.
