Japan Designates 'Cruelly Hot' Category for Extreme Heatwaves

Japan's Meteorological Agency has introduced a new term, 'kokushobi' (cruelly hot), to categorize days experiencing extreme heatwaves, particularly those reaching 40°C. This designation follows Japan's hottest summer on record and aims to better communicate the severity of high temperatures.
