Dutch Coalition Divided Over Mortgage Interest Deduction Reversal

D66 and CDA have reignited the cabinet discussion on mortgage interest deduction in the Netherlands. They voted in favor of a GroenLinks-PvdA motion to reverse an expansion of the deduction, which subsequently passed.

D66 en CDA zetten de discussie in het kabinet over de hypotheekrenteaftrek opnieuw op scherp. Zij stemden voor een motie van GroenLinks-PvdA om een verruiming van de hypotheekrenteaftrek terug te draaien. De motie kreeg daardoor een meerderheid, terwijl coalitiegenoot VVD zeer tegen is.
