Aricell CEO’s sentence cut to 4 years in deadly fire case

Aricell Chief Executive Park Soon-kwan was sentenced to four years in prison on appeal over the 2024 battery plant fire in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province, that killed 23 workers, sharply reducing the 15-year term handed down by a lower court. The Suwon High Court also sentenced Park’s son, Park Jung-eon, Aricell’s head of operations, to seven years in prison and a 1 million won ($680) fine. Six other Aricell officials and employees indicted in connection with the case received suspended prison term
