Majority summit focuses on priorities for the final year of government
(ANSA) - ROME, FEB 16 - A summit of the leaders of Italy's right-wing government parties on Monday focused on the priorities for the final year of the administration whose term ends in October next year, majority sources said after the meeting at Premier Giorgia Meloni's office at Palazzo Chigi in Rome. The summit between right-wing Brothers of Italy (FdI) party leader Meloni, Deputy Premier, Foreign Minister and centre-right Forza Italy (FI) leader Antonio Tajani and Deputy Premier, Transport Minister and right-wing League party leader Matteo Salvini did not only address an energy decree and the upcoming first meeting of the Board of Peace for Gaza in Washington Thursday, the sources said. The leaders, they said, also discussed the method for identifying the legislative priorities to focus on in the final year of the legislature. As centre-right sources explained, in the meeting that lasted over an hour, the leaders decided to identify the priorities based both on the proposals of the individual parties and on the contents of the coalition platform. The same sources reported that the electoral law was also discussed at the meeting, and the leaders will follow up with further meetings on the referendum on judiciary reform and the upcoming local elections, particularly in Venice and Reggio Calabria. Appointments, however, were not discussed, according to the sources. Regarding the energy decree, there are still some aspects to be ironed out, which—the same sources explain—mainly concern Article 3 of the provision. (ANSA). Read article...
