Japan Approves Basic Policy for Food Consumption Tax Cut

The Japanese government and ruling party have approved a basic policy to reduce the consumption tax on food items to 1% for a two-year period starting next April. They aim to submit the necessary legislation to the extraordinary Diet session this autumn.
