Malaysia's EV Hub Ambition Challenged by BYD Standoff

Malaysia's goal of becoming an electric vehicle hub is facing a challenge due to a reported disagreement between Chinese automaker BYD and the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) over strict manufacturing conditions. This standoff has left BYD's RM1.3 billion assembly plant in Tanjung Malim in limbo.
