Leak in aging storage cellar likely caused Amersfoort water contamination

A leak in a drinking water storage cellar at Vitens’ production facility is believed to be the cause of two drinking water boil advisories that affected tens of thousands of households in Amersfoort in late 2025 and early 2026.
