Njemački mediji ukazuju na to da BMW planira zamijeniti četverocilindarski motor u verziji 520d s rednim šestocilindarskim dizelom B57. Oznaka bi ostala ista, ali bi kubikaža i broj cilindara porasli, dok bi snaga zbog potrošnje ostala na nivou 520d.
