Dealer sold ‘test-drive’ car as brand new; buyer wins over Rs 9.2 lakh payout

The NCDRC ruled Tata Motors is not liable for a dealer selling a demo car as new. The buyer purchased a Tata Manza Elan which had been used for eight months. The district commission ordered the dealer to refund the full amount and pay compensation. The state commission had made Tata Motors jointly liable with the dealer. The NCDRC restored the district commission's order, absolving the manufacturer and restoring compensation.
