Electrolux halves production, 1,700 layoffs

(ANSA) - ROME, MAY 11 - The Swedish home appliance giant Electrolux on Monday announced 1,700 layoffs out of a total of 4,500 employees in Italy. No plant will be excluded from the staff reduction, it said, and in particular, the Cerreto d'Esi plant, near Ancona, which employs 170 workers, will be closed.
