India’s parking crisis is turning into a major civic headache

India faces a severe parking shortage due to rapid motorisation and poor urban planning. Vehicle numbers have doubled in a decade, overwhelming city infrastructure. Historic areas and newer suburbs struggle with limited space for growing car ownership. Informal parking thrives while multi-level facilities remain underutilized and enforcement is challenging.
