Algarve Landfill Nears Collapse, Plans Expansion into Protected Area
A landfill in the Algarve region of Portugal is reportedly on the verge of collapse, processing only 20% of the 150,000 tons of waste it receives annually. Plans are underway to expand the facility by 4.6 hectares into a protected zone to cope with the waste for the next five years.
