1868 Eclipse in India Led to Discovery of Helium

During a solar eclipse in India in 1868, astronomers observed an enigmatic yellow spectral line, initially by Pierre Jules Janssen. This observation, though not immediately understood, later led Norman Lockyer to name the unidentified element 'helium,' which was found on Earth 27 years later.
