Wielokrotnie odznaczany za odwagę, w ostatnich latach przed wojną pełnił funkcję adiutanta prezydenta RP Ignacego Mościckiego. Do historii przeszedł jednak jako polski komendant ośrodka szkoleniowego w Audley End (STS 43) w hrabstwie Essex.
