Why putting spit hoods on people is risky — and can be deadly
Spit hoods are meant to protect first responders from spitting. Yet an investigation by CBC's the fifth estate and Radio-Canada's Enquête identified 17 fatal incidents involving the controversial device in Canada over the last two decades. In nearly every case, the hood seems to have been misused.
