MAF reviews Palapes training procedures after cadet’s death, says defence chief

KOTA TINGGI, March 1 — The Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) is reviewing its training modules and procedures, particularly those related to the Malaysian Cadet Corps (Palapes), following the death of a cadet during a training session here yesterday. Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan said the review was to ensure that all training conducted by the MAF, including those involving civilian institutions, adhered to the highest safety standards. He added that the ministry would also investigate the incident thoroughly to determine the cause of the cadet's death and to prevent future occurrences. The cadet, identified as Muhammad Ashraf Mohd Fauzi, 21, was reportedly undergoing a jungle warfare training exercise at the Sungai Udang Camp when he collapsed. He was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel.
