India launches world's largest census

With an estimated population of 1.4 billion, India—the world’s most populous nation—is launching the first phase of what is set to be the largest census ever conducted. More than three million officials are involved in updating figures from the last count in 2011, when the population stood at 1.21 billion. The project could pave the way for major changes to welfare programs and electoral boundaries. Liza Kaminov reports.
