J.D. Salinger's famous novel 'The Catcher in the Rye,' a bible for American youth in the 1960s, celebrates its 75th anniversary since its first publication on July 16, 1951.

Doslova biblí americké mládeže 60. let 20. století se stal román Kdo chytá v žitě, který se ke čtenářům poprvé dostal 16. července 1951. Pro jeho autora Jerome Davida Salingera byl životním dílem - žádný další román již nenapsal a poslední povídky vydal v roce 1965. Knihy se celosvětově prodalo více než deset milionů výtisků, v češtině poprvé vyšla v roce 1960.
