Centre Reports No Evidence of Increased Efficiency from Mechanized Sewer Cleaning, Cites Deaths and Complaints

The Centre informed the Lok Sabha that there is no evidence of increased efficiency due to the mechanization of sewer cleaning, reporting 622 deaths from hazardous cleaning since 2017 and 842 complaints in 2025 regarding wage denial, lack of protective gear, and caste bias.
