Rs 100 cr club gets bigger: Number of nine-figure income filers quadruples in five years

More Indians are reporting nine-figure incomes on tax returns. The number of these high-earners rose to 576 in the 2025-26 assessment year. This figure represents a fourfold increase from five years prior. The government is implementing measures to reduce income inequality. These measures include progressive taxation and increased social spending.
