Utrecht’s fish doorbell returns March 2 to help migrating fish
The world’s first Fish Doorbell at the Weerdsluis in Utrecht will resume operations on March 2, allowing migrating fish to pass through the lock. The doorbell, which was developed by The Nature Conservancy and the City of Utrecht, allows fish to signal their presence to lock keepers, who can then open the lock to let them through. The doorbell has been credited with helping to increase fish populations in the area.
