Iran heeft het aantal executies in 2025 flink opgevoerd. Met gemiddeld vier executies per dag doodde het regime in Teheran vorig jaar zeker 1639 mensen. In 2024 waren dat er 975. Het aantal executies steeg hiermee met 68 procent. De cijfers zijn afkomstig uit een gezamenlijk jaarverslag van mensenrechtenorganisaties Human Rights en Together Against the Death Penalty.
