Lost Seventh-Century Old English Poem Discovered in Rome Library
Scholars from Dublin have found a 1,200-year-old manuscript of Caedmon’s Hymn, the earliest surviving poem in the English language, in a library in Rome. The poem was composed in the seventh century by a Northumbrian cattle herder.
