Comoros welcomes addition of centuries-old medinas to Unesco list
UNESCO has added six centuries–old medinas in the Comoros to its World Heritage List, drawing praise from the country's authorities as well as conservationists. Build as far back as the 12th century these ancient palaces, mosques and public squares were linked by a series of narrow streets and protected by imposing medieval walls.
