Nowe standardy opieki nad pacjentami wprowadził oddział intensywnej terapii w Państwowym Instytucie Medycznym MSWiA w Warszawie. Placówka została zaprojektowana zgodnie z koncepcją "healing environment", czyli leczącego otoczenia. Oprócz zaawansowanej aparatury medycznej uwzględnia również komfort psychiczny chorych oraz obecność ich bliskich.
