Arrests for Negligent Fire Use Nearly Triple in Portugal, Fines for Lack of Cleaning Reach €94,900
By the end of July, arrests for negligent use of fire in Portugal have almost tripled, and fines for failing to clear land have amounted to €94,900. Authorities have identified 8,549 plots for fuel management and issued 429 notices for lack of cleaning, with 304 contraventions resulting from controlled burns and bonfires.
