Asbestos: Charges for exercise with students in quarry

The prosecutor's office has filed charges against the school principal and two teachers from the Lycée Saint-Exupéry in Marseille. They are accused of "endangering the lives of others" and "involuntary injuries" following an "educational outing" in a former asbestos quarry with students from the second grade. The outing took place on September 21, 2021, in Gardanne. The students were reportedly exposed to asbestos fibers. The prosecutor's office stated that the investigation revealed "serious breaches of safety regulations" and "negligence" on the part of the school staff. The principal and teachers are expected to appear in court in the coming months.
