The Cambodian Mine Action Centre (CMAC) on Tuesday briefed foreign military attachés on the Kingdom's demining efforts and the challenges faced in clearing UXOs from the Preah Vihear Temple area. During a visit to the temple, the attachés observed more than 1,200 unexploded ordnance (UXO) items, including bombs and mines, scattered across the site. CMAC Director-General Heng Ratana stated that despite ongoing efforts, the presence of UXOs poses a significant risk to both locals and tourists visiting the UNESCO World Heritage site. He urged for continued international support to accelerate the demining process and ensure the safety of the area.
