Ski mountaineer dies after avalanche in Val d'Aosta

(ANSA) - ROME, FEB 19 - A ski mountaineer who was caught in an avalanche this afternoon below Punta Paletta, in the municipality of Saint-Nicolas, Val d'Aosta, died in Aosta hospital. Paramedics attempted to resuscitate him for a long time, but his injuries were too serious. Another ski mountaineer is in hospital, but his condition is not life-threatening.
