Evropa je nejrychleji se oteplujícím kontinentem. Vloni zaznamenalo nadprůměrné roční teploty zhruba 95 procent kontinentu. Vyplývá to ze zprávy o stavu klimatu v Evropě, vypracované Evropským střediskem pro střednědobé předpovědi počasí a Světovou meteorologickou organizací. Oteplování se navíc podle docenta Michala Žáka, meteorologa z Matematicko-fyzikální fakulty Univerzity Karlovy, očekává i v letošním roce.
