Ashok threatens to launch ‘Save Mysuru Silk’ campaign if Govt. does not drop stadium project at KSIC unit in T. Narsipura
Former Minister S. Suresh Kumar on Tuesday urged the government to drop the proposed stadium project at the Karnataka Silk Industries Corporation (KSIC) unit in T. Narsipura, stating that it would affect the silk industry. He warned that if the government does not heed his warning, he would launch a ‘Save Mysuru Silk’ campaign. Mr. Kumar said that the KSIC unit in T. Narsipura is a major producer of Mysuru silk and that the stadium project would lead to the closure of the unit. He added that the project would also affect the livelihoods of thousands of silk weavers and farmers in the region.
