Softbank to Begin "Flying Base Station" Drone Trials in Japan

Softbank announced it will begin domestic demonstration experiments of communication services using unmanned aircraft, or "flying base stations," from mid-August. The trials, which include Kochi Prefecture as a candidate site, aim to prepare for scenarios where mobile base stations are rendered unusable by disasters like the Nankai Trough earthquake.
