Days before IRIS Dena sinking, India approved urgent docking for Iranian ship in Kochi

New Delhi: Days before the IRIS Dena, an Iranian naval vessel, sank off the coast of Oman, India had granted permission for its urgent docking at the Kochi port. The approval came through the Directorate General of Shipping, which had given the go-ahead for the ship to dock at the port for repairs. The IRIS Dena, a logistics support vessel of the Islamic Republic of Iran Navy, was on a mission in the Gulf of Oman when it caught fire and sank on Wednesday, June 2, resulting in the death of two crew members and 30 others injured.
