What A 400-Year-Old Shark Can Teach Us About Human Longevity

New research on the Greenland shark’s heart found extensive signs of cellular aging, including fibrosis, oxidative stress and lipofuscin buildup, yet the animals still appeared healthy and functional. Instead of avoiding aging, these sharks may survive for centuries because they are remarkably resilient to it.
