Designer drugs should be banned if there is doubt about their harmfulness
The European Parliament has called for a ban on designer drugs if there is any doubt about their harmfulness. MEPs argue that the current legislation is insufficient to tackle the growing problem of new psychoactive substances (NPS), often referred to as 'legal highs'. They want to empower law enforcement agencies to remove these substances from the market more quickly and effectively. The Parliament also calls for better cooperation between member states and for more research into the health risks associated with NPS.
