Anne Frank Receives Diary on 13th Birthday in 1942
On June 12, 1942, in the Netherlands, Jewish businessman Otto Frank gave his daughter Anne a modest wartime birthday gift: a small notebook. Anne began writing her diary in it, documenting her family's experiences and those of other Jews.
